Author: Other

The Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index (ND-GAIN) opened the call for applications to its Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index Corporate Adaptation Award.

The award recognizes a multi-national corporation that has made measurable contributions to awareness, science or action in creating resilience or adaptation to climate change.

The winning corporate project will:

  • Have a measurable impact in a country ranked below 60 on the ND-GAIN Index
  • Work with a local partner(s) to decrease climate-related vulnerability and improve readiness
  • Focus on food security, water access, coastal protection, ecosystem services, human habitats, human health or other climate-related vulnerability

Winners will be featured at the invite-only ND-GAIN annual meeting in Washington DC on December 12, 2013.

Please submit your response to the 4 questions in the application, no later than October 21, 2013.

All applications will be review by ND-GAIN staff.  Semi-finalists will be reviewed by ND-GAIN’s Advisory Board. Only projects selected as semi-finalists will be contacted by the ND-GAIN team in late October.

GAIN was founded in 2010 as the world’s first private sector-led, nonprofit organization created to save lives and improve livelihoods in developing countries by promoting adaptation solutions.  ND-GAIN moved to Notre Dame from Washington, D.C. in April 2013. It is the world’s leading index showing which countries are best prepared to deal with the national security risks, droughts, superstorms and other natural disasters climate change can cause by measuring a country’s vulnerability to climate change and other global forces, as well as its readiness to accept private and public sector investment in adaptation.
